Roberta Williamson, a Craftboston Jewelry artist, uses found objects, various ephemera and metal fabrication to create objects and jewelry which tell personal stories. Her love of nature informs her work often using reference as an allegory.

LECTURE—An Artist’s Personal Journey

Kathleen Dustin, a Craftboston Mixed Media artist, will present images of her evolving work from ceramic wall sculptures to polymer purses. Guests will follow her creative path as an artist over a 30-year period. While following several concepts as well as signature styles that correspond to the stages in her life, a thread of personal awareness nevertheless stitches them all together and is evident in her presentation |

LECTURE—The Museum of Fine Arts new Linde Family Wing for Contemporary Art

Emily Zilber, Ronald C. and Anita L. Wornick Curator of Contemporary Decorative Arts at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA), will discuss the significant role of craft and design in the context of the MFA's expanded contemporary programs. In addition to focusing on exhibitions, programs, and collections, Zilber will present an overview of the Linde Family Wing for Contemporary Art, currently under renovation to open seven new galleries in September 2011. A highlight of the new wing is the Daphne Farago Gallery, a dedicated space for the exhibition of craft, design, and decorative arts (from 1955 to the present).

Joe Christensen, a Craftboston Ceramic artist, will take you on a ceramics journey beginning with wedging 200 pounds of clay and ending with a 6 foot carved vessel. Images and video will be shown.

Joe Bagley, a Craftboston Paper artist, traces the colorful history and dramatic regional styles of cut-paper art from around the world. Find out how these styles influenced Bagley's incredibly intricate hand-cut paper pieces.
